What is behind the name, learn what MettaTech means.
Michael Becker has over 13 years of international technology business development and marketing experience spanning numerous technologies: Medical Products, custom test solutions, mobile and internet communications & data services, and client & server application software development.
Michael is founder President MettaTech, Inc., and along with running MettaTech is the Vice President of Marketing at gpware, Inc., a leading provider of integrated mobile navigation and location aware solutions, located in Menlo Park, CA. Michael was Marketing Director for Ecrio Inc., a provider of presence-enabled applications and infrastructure software for the wireless telecommunications industry. He has developed and marketed Internet communities and electronic book-based mobile commerce solutions for Gemstar Inc., and was responsible for marketing, selling, and delivering communications testing solutions at Hewlett-Packard, now Agilent Technologies. He came to HP from A&D Engineering. With A&D, while in Tokyo, Japan, he was responsible for developing the European OEM consumer and professional medical electronics distribution channels, and with A&D’s United States subsidiary he managed the North and South American consumer and professional medical products markets.
Michael is an adjunct professor of International Business Strategy to undergraduates and masters students at Golden Gate University, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration, focusing on the emergence of mobile marketing in the United States. He has traveled to and conducted business in 49 countries, and was a Rotary International Group Study Exchange Ambassador to Vietnam, March 2003.
He is an active board member of the Silicon Valley American Marketing Association (www.svama.org). He sits on the SVAMA as Executive VP of Strategy, and is responsible for Strategic Alliances, Public Relations, Market Research, and metrics management. Michael held the VP of Collegiate relations role in the '01/'02 and '02/'03 terms. Michael is functionally fluent in Japanese, has an MBA from Santa Clara University, and a BS in Business Administration from Saint Mary's College of California.
Karl Schweikert has over 11 years of product launch and product marketing experience. Having launched a wide variety of hardware and software products including Ethernet Switches for Newbridge Networks and Palm OS 5 for Palm, Inc., Karl is comfortable in both the startup and corporate environments. Additional product launches have included Healthcare Services, Asset Tracking Solutions, and International Trade Logistics Services.
Karl began working with MettaTech, Inc. in January 2004 and has completed strategic and tactical projects for CIR Ventures, a Venture Capital company, and Polycom, Inc, the audio and video conferencing company.
Prior to working with the MettaTech Team, Karl was Marketing Director for Handheld Media Group, publishers of Handheld Computing and Mobility magazines. There he helped to increase circulation by launching successful promotional trials and revamping the newsstand presence of the magazines. He moved into this role after the successful launch of Palm OS 5 into the marketplace. This was the first ARM-based solution for the Palm Powered products including Sony’s CLIE, Garmin’s iQue, and Palm’s Tungsten lines. The launch was well received in the media including a positive review by Walt Mossberg of The Wall Street Journal.
Karl is an active member of the Silicon Valley American Marketing Association (www.svama.org). Karl has an MBA from Santa Clara University, and a BS in Economics from San Jose State University.
